Western Equestrian team finishes as Hi-Point team in final regular season show

The Alfred State western equestrian team poses with their awards following their final regular season competition

The Alfred State western equestrian team finished as the Hi-point team in their final show of the regular season. After finishing as the reserve Hi-point team in the morning show, the Pioneers rode to Hi-point honors in the afternoon show.

In the afternoon show, three Pioneers took home first place honors led by Ashley Wolfe (Painted Post, NY). Wolfe claimed Hi-point rider honors with a first-place finish in Open Reining and Open Horsemanship. Jordan Henry (Little Valley, NY) followed up a victory in Rookie A in the morning show with a second victory in the afternoon show. Laura Mills (Greenwood, NY) rode to first place in the Beginner competition after finishing fourth in the morning show.

Morgan Alemy (Milton, VT) was first in Level 1 in the morning and second in the afternoon while Adeline Milligan (Pavilion, NY) was second in Beginner in the afternoon after a fourth-place finish in the morning. Molly Arnold (Dryden) was second in the afternoon competition in Rookie B after finishing fifth in the morning.

In the morning show, Wolfe was second in Open Horsemanship and third in Open Reining.

Abby Thomas (Lawrenceville, PA) was third in Rookie A in the morning and fifth in the afternoon, Erika Hepler (Emlenton, PA), Alyssa Burdick (Valley Falls, NY), and Krystal McKinney (East Thetford, VT) each rode to third place finishes on the day.

Wolfe, Henry, and Thomas have qualified for the IHSA Western Regionals on Feb. 25.
