Academic All-Stars Hold Second Week of Competition

STEUBEN COUNTY- Monday night marked the second week of Academic All-Stars competition with some brisk matches.

In the Large School Division Hornell continued their winning streak by defeating the Corning Gold team 18 – 11.  Hornell did not field a team last year, so they are rebuilding this season.  They are off to a great start.  Corning Black came out on top beating Bath Haverling 36 – 21.

Naples was able to best Cambell-Savona with a score of 24 – 19 in the Medium-Large School Division.  The second match saw Addison squeeze out a 41 – 37 victory over Canisteo Greenwood.

The Medium-Small School division saw Alfred Almond defeat J-T 59 – 22, while Arkport topped Hammondsport 40 – 26.

In the Small School Division Bradford defeated Prattsburgh 19 – 16, and Avoca was able to hold on to their winning record with a 37 – 22 victory over Canaseraga.

There will be no matches next week due to the Winter break for area schools, however competition will pick up again on February 26 with matches in Hornell, Naples, Jasper-Troupsburg, and Prattsburgh.
