Legendary local broadcaster celebrated by county leaders, listen to his speech

Rod was 25-years-old when Tropical Storm Agnes destroyed Wellsville.
The Eldred native made his 25 mile trip that day to begin broadcasting on WLSV-AM 790 in Wellsville. As he approached Wellsville, he noted the water “was high” but he plowed on because his job was an on-air announcer. For five straight days, Rod kept the county informed with emergency alerts and information.
On Wednesday, he was honored by the county legislature. As he accepted his certificate and county pin, he became emotional noting that Allegany County was his second home.
