The Lions met recently at the Wellsville Country Club to welcome some new members to the pride.
New members are Brad Loucks sponsored by Dean Arnold, Sheila Kalkbrenner sponsored by Jody Tory and Tom Hand sponsored by Bruce Hand.

Longtime Lion Al Mosher is proud of the legacy he and other lifelong Lions like Jody Torrey and Bill Childs have created in Wellsville.
“The work that the Lions Club does touches almost every part of this community.”
To understand what Mosher means, he offers this “Wellsville Lion Tour,” to give future members a better idea of the impact that the Lions have.
Take a tour of Wellsville and learn what the Wellsville Lions Club is all about. Hard to find a place not touched by the Wellsville Lions Club. For 82 years it has been a community leader in helping our area.
Start on a tour into town on Route 19 and a Welcome to Wellsville sign proudly show the local service Clubs emblems and among them is Lions.
As you travel into the village the expressway NY State Route 417 is being cleanup by Lions members who make up the Highway clean-up committee. The Lions members tend to this vital route two, sometimes three times a year.
As you proceed on the tour several history markers can be found, telling of the history or our area. Each Have brief descriptions of the area and significant events to our community.
You drive by Jones Memorial Hospital where the Lions have the Wellsville Lions Diabetic Center to help in dealing with this treaded disease. You will find several medical items donated by the Lions.
On Main Street you will find several pocket parks with benches for locals to enjoy while downtown. This is an example of Wellsville Lions Labor and donated funds.
The David A Howe Library over the years has received funds from the Lions for projects. Roof repairs, remodeling of Kitchen (Lion members did the work) rebuilt the entrance to Nancy Howe Auditorium. Large print books for visually handicapped have been donated. Each year at Christmas time the front lawn is lit up in several Christmas trees sponsored by the Lions. (Fantasy of Lights.)
Watch your speed on Wellsville streets as the Lions donated to the Wellsville Police flashing speed sign. This sign has been used to keep our traffic flow safe, especially near our schools.
As you drive by Tullar field it also has been touched by the Lions club. Sponsoring teams and providing needed equipment for Wellsville’s many youth sport leagues.
The building that the Ambulance Corp calls home was a major project for the Wellsville Lions in the early 70’s. Over the years the Ambulance Corp has received funding for many of their projects. The emergency trailer was funded by the Wellsville Lions.
The Wellsville Little league has over the received funding with sponsoring teams over the years. Lions are responsible for the back stop at Hank Sinkey Field. new equipment in the Concession area and more.
The school system has also received funding for several sports teams, club activities. The lights in the High School Gym along with scoreboards. The auditorium has been given many upgrades, which the Lions were a part of. Each year the Lions fund several students trip to Diabetic camp to learn how to exist with this dreaded disease.
Each October the Wellsville Lions have World Service Day where Lions members feed up to150 Senior citizens. This dinner is to celebrate our Senior Citizens who have given back to the community.
Over the years 1.5 million dollars has been given back to the Wellsville Community. These include many more projects helping people to see with special glasses, surgeries for many less fortunate people. Being there to help after a loss. Our motto is “We Serve”.
It is great to be a Lion but is special to be a Wellsville Lion.
