Solar and Miscellaneous

The monthly meeting of the Town Board was again conducted in hybrid fashion with board members attending in person and all others via Zoom. The major focus of the meeting was again solar. After many months of back and forth with the applicant-Delaware River Solar on their application for a 5 MW solar project at 5568 Jericho Hill Road, and on the recommendation of our engineers and legal counsel, the board passed a resolution granting conditional site plan approval and a conditional Special Use Permit.

These approvals are subject to conditions enumerated in the resolution which will be reviewed by our engineers for compliance as the project progresses. The resolution also made a negative declaration for purposes of the State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR), indicating the project would not have a significant impact on the environment. We expect construction to begin in 2022.

In addition to routine business, the board formed a subcommittee to recommend how we should spend our American Rescue Plan (ARP) monies. We also approved employee participation in a deferred compensation plan, continued participation in a mutual aid agreement, and a backup plan for electronic data.
