Cornell Cooperative Extension: Cover Crop Field Day This Friday July 16th

BELMONT, NEW YORK (July 12, 2021) — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County’s Agriculture Program is excited to announce:

Cover Crop Field Day

Cover crops continue to grow in popularity due to their many benefits; including reduced soil erosion, weed suppression potential, reduced nitrogen and phosphorus loads entering water bodies, and increased soil organic matter. This field day aims to equip attendees with selection, best management practices for cover crops and tips for successfully adding them to your operation. This outside event will be held rain or shine on Friday, July 16, 2021 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Host site for the program is Country Crossroads Feed & Seed located at 3186 County Rte 61 Andover, NY 14806.

Join Shane Laurie, Western NY Territory Field Manager and Scott Rushe, Forage Market Development Manager with Seedway for a tour of demonstration plot containing several individual cover crops and some mixes. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and share their experiences with cover cropping as well. The program is free to attend however pre-registration is requested by Wednesday, July 14th.
