On July 10, 2025, Moraine Solar Energy Center, LLC (“Moraine”) submitted an application to the New York State Public Service Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity under Section 68 of the Public Service Law. Moraine is requesting an Order to authorize the entity, Moraine Solar Energy Center, LLC, to own and operate the Moraine Solar Project an approximately 94 MW solar powered major renewable energy facility, to be located in the Town of Burns, Allegany County, New York (“Facility”). Moraine also seeks an order providing for lightened regulation. Moraine obtained a Siting Permit on May 18, 2023, pursuant to former Section 94-c of the Executive Law from the New York State Office of Renewable Energy Siting and Electric Transmission (“ORES”), based on an application filed with ORES on March 15, 2022, in a separate proceeding to construct the Moraine Solar Project in the Town of Burns, Allegany County, New York (the “Project” or “Facility”).
Moraine Solar Energy Center, LLC has requested no hearing be required and the petition for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity be determined on the basis of the Petition, attachments thereto and the material provided to ORES, Matter No. 22-00024.
Any person seeking to comment on the Petition for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity should notify in writing, within 10 days of the date of the publication of this Notice, the Secretary of the Public Service Commission at Agency Building 3, Empire State Plaza, Albany, NY 12223, of the reasons for the opposition.
