Allegany County Undersheriff Visits Immaculate Conception School Kindergarten

Undersheriff Kevin Monroe visited Immaculate Conception School Kindergarten last week for some summer safety lessons & bike helmets for a few littles that needed them!

Longtime Kindergarten teacher at ICS, Mary Ann Newark, provides her class with regular visits from law enforcement and other first responders. After almost forty years of teaching the class, she has plenty of former students now working to ‘protect and serve’, and plenty of current students who want to be a, “cop when I grow up.”

“ICS is so appreciative of all the local law enforcements to interact with our students and starting at a young age. A special thanks to Allegany County Undersheriff Kevin Monroe for visiting last week. He made them smile and that positive impact goes a long way with very young kids,” Newark explained.

One of those kindergarten boys in the class happens to share and office with the Wellsville Sun and he came home from school beaming about the visit from Undersheriff Monroe.

“Dad he had a taser! And a gun! And he was so nice and funny! He told us about things to do on our bikes to be safe, I told him about how I just crashed my bike really bad”
