The David A. Howe Library will celebrate the holiday season with our community by hosting several exciting events in the Nancy Howe Auditorium.

Andover Ecumenical Choir will be the first performance in December. Directed by Marcella Bledsoe, they will present their annual advent concert on Monday, December 9. The concert begins at 7 p.m. All are welcome to this free event!

Continuing the festivities, Genesee Dance Theatre brings its 10th annual production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker to Wellsville, NY, for two spectacular performances, bringing together a cast of local dance students and even some Wellsville children as mice. They will perform on December 13, at 7 p.m., and December 14, at 2 p.m. Experience the enchanting Tchaikovsky score brought to life by a company of student and professional dancers. It’s a holiday delight for the whole family!

Both performances are free to the public with support from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Arts Council for Wyoming County, as well as The Friends of the David A. Howe Library, and Anne Currier & George Hrycun. Seating is first-come, first-serve and doors open 30 minutes prior to show time. For more information, visit geneseedance.com.

The final holiday event in the Nancy Howe Auditorium will be “Charles Dickens Presents: A Christmas Carol,” on Saturday, December 21, at 2 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the library; tickets will be $5 each and can be purchased at the main desk of the library beginning December 2 or at the auditorium door the day of the show. This one-man play was created and will be performed by Mike Randall, best known for his long career as a newscaster for WKBW-TV in Buffalo. Randall has appeared at the David A. Howe Library multiple times, most recently as Mark Twain in 2022.

The library is excited to welcome our community into the Nancy Howe Auditorium and hopes to make the season brighter for all who come.
