“Can the Van” is a collaborative effort to address food insecurity in our community by providing essential resources to those in need. The event will feature a dedicated Armstrong van that will collect donations at each location. Our goal is to fill the van with much-needed supplies, demonstrating the power of community support and the impact of collective action.

How You Can Get Involved:

  1. Donate Non-Perishable Food Items: Items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and shelf-stable milk are greatly needed.
  2. Contribute Hygiene Products: Essential items like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and sanitary products will help maintain dignity and well-being.
  3. Make Monetary Donations: Financial contributions allow food pantries to purchase items in bulk and address specific needs.

Special Event Details: Join us for a community celebration on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Armstrong Fall Fest, where we’ll do our final can the van event of the year, have a basket raffle to raise money for food pantries, and offer family-friendly activities. There will also be opportunities to make on-the-spot donations and learn more about how your contributions are making a difference.

“With rising costs and increased food insecurity, we believe that everyone should have access to necessities. ‘Can the Van’ is a testament to our communities’ generosity when so many people are struggling,” said Elizabeth Lingenfelter, Leadership Allegany Cohort 2025 member and Community Marketing Manager at Armstrong. “By coming together, we can make a significant impact and ensure that our local food pantries are well-equipped to support the increased needs that they are facing.”
