Deb Quinn has inspired and supported the ALS community since her diagnosis
Jazz in Bloom is June 9th to support “Hearts for ALS NY”
From the Wellsville High School Music Department
Students in grades 9–12 from the High School Band and Orchestra gathered during first block on June 2 for a meaningful presentation by local ALS advocate Mrs. Deb Quinn.

Mrs. Quinn spoke candidly with students about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells responsible for muscle movement. During her presentation, she shared the impact ALS has had on her family, as well as her own personal journey living with the disease.
Students listened attentively as Mrs. Quinn described the daily challenges she faces and the strength, determination, and support that have helped her navigate life with ALS. Her firsthand account provided a powerful perspective on the realities of the disease while highlighting the importance of resilience, compassion, and community support.

The presentation was especially meaningful as the High School Band and Orchestra prepare for their upcoming “Jazz in Bloom” concert fundraiser, which will benefit the local ALS chapter. By hearing Mrs. Quinn’s story directly, students gained a deeper understanding of the cause they are supporting through their music.
Faculty members expressed appreciation for Mrs. Quinn’s willingness to share her experiences and educate students about ALS. Her visit left a lasting impression on those in attendance, inspiring students to recognize the difference that awareness, advocacy, and community involvement can make in the lives of individuals and families affected by ALS.
The High School Music Department extends its sincere gratitude to Mrs. Quinn for taking the time to visit with students and share her remarkable story of courage and perseverance.
