Eclipse events start March 18 !! Astronomer Dave Toot on March 21 !!! April 8 events!!

From the David A. Howe Library,

The Library has a full slate of Eclipse programming starting with the availability of Eclipse Glasses (while supplies last) beginning Monday, March 18th, and ending with a Solar Eclipse Watch Party the day of the celestial phenomenon. More program details below.

This April, New York state will be able to witness a remarkable solar eclipse, with Wellsville falling in the 98% totality range. The event will begin with partial coverage around 2pm and continue until 4:30. The maximum eclipse time will take place around 3:20pm.

To learn more about what an eclipse is, and how to view it safely, join us for a talk with solar physics expert, Dr. David Toot, professor of astronomy and physics emeritus of Alfred University. This program will take place Thursday, March 21st at 4pm.

And you’re invited to a Solar Eclipse Watch Party at the library that day! We will have light snacks, some crafts or activities to enjoy during the eclipse and the best view in town. Join us for this, and our other fun eclipse programs.
