UPDATE: Subject wanted by State Police over weekend may have jumped on Allegany County Transit bus

A 34-year-old Wellsville man who was the subject of a search over the weekend in Wellsville has been spotted in Richburg.

The man was recently arrested and allegedly eluded police today by getting on an Allegany County Transit Bus.

The Allegany County 911 center at the sheriff’s department is dispatching police and handling the situation.

The man allegedly got on the bus in Richburg around 3:25 p.m., but was not on the bus when it was stopped.

The Wellsville Sun has contacted the New York State Police asking for permission to release the name of the man that was broadcast over the police scanner.

Police said they have photos on their cell phone of the man and they are searching. They confirmed to dispatchers he was not on the bus.

Police did confirm this is connected to the man they were looking for over the weekend for allegedly violating an order of protection

The man was charged late last month with with fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal contempt.

When reached to confirm the name of the subject, police said they are not able to release the name at this time.
