Van Campen Talk, Audio Walking Tour, Roque Tourney, Live Music, Market Vendors to highlight Angelica’s 54th Heritage Days Festival

If you come to Heritage Days in Angelica for the focus on local history, you are sure to enjoy this year’s program. Sponsored by the Angelica Booster Citizens, the festival takes place in the town square at the center of Park Circle National Historic District.

The weekend event will kick off on Friday evening with a 7:00 p.m. organ concert at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Park Circle.

Moses Van Campen, Revolutionary War soldier & frontiersman, was among the pioneer settlers of Angelica.  Molly Van Campen Schen will present a look at the life of her ancestor at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Grange building.

Again this year the Booster Citizens and Angelica Tourism Trek have partnered to create a self-guided walking audio tour along West and East Main streets, in the Park Circle area. You can access the tours on your smart phone by scanning a QR code.

The croquet tournament on the unique “roque” court has been a highlight of Heritage Days since the event began in 1969. This year’s competition has 13 two-person teams competing for the championship. Semifinals are set for Saturday with the finals to take place Sunday afternoon.

In addition, the Heritage Days festival will feature a full lineup of live music in the Park Circle bandstand; a large art-craft-antique market; cornhole competition; “Made in Angelica” exhibit; Colonial Rooms open in Angelica Free Library; wagon rides through the Historic District; theme basket auction; and plenty of good food including the Sunday chicken barbecue.
