Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County’s Agriculture Program is excited to announce:

On Wednesday, July 19th the Allegany County Fair held the Youth Dairy Show. This year’s show opened with meet and greet with the judge, Dorothea Fitzsimmons from Mount Morris, NY.
Beginning the show with Senior Showmanship division all receiving blue ribbons: 1st to Natalie Burrows Cuba, NY followed by Taylor Brokaw Friendship NY, Jamilyn Giberson Hinsdale NY, Halayna Eddy and Shaelynn Eddy both from Cuba, NY
Moving into the Intermediate Showmanship, Morgan Holcomb from Friendship, NY was first in class followed Lindsey Reynolds Cuba NY, Abigail Morton Caneadea NY, and Jim Eshelman from Scio, NY with blue ribbons; first red award to Riley Blarr of Belmont, NY and 2nd red to Huntar Hint Friendship NY.
In our Junior Showmanship division, 1st was Grant Bell Bolivar NY flowed by Bentley Foster Friendship NY both received a blue ribbon. For the Novice division topping the class was Grace Bell Bolivar NY, also receiving blue ribbons Lily Morton Scio NY.
Winners in Each of the showmanship divisions received a halter sponsored by Zane Covert. The top 2 from each division competed for Master Showmanship. This year’s winner Natalie Burrows received a director’s chair sponsored by The York Agency, Lester York. Reserve Master Showmanship, Taylor Brokaw received a duffle bag award from Zane Covert.
Five participants in Cloverbub Showman this year, open to youth 5-7 years old. Gardy Bell, Grayson Bell, Tinsley Foster, Lynn Morton, and Aubrey Tavano received a participation ribbon and a bucket of supplies sponsored by Wild Geese Farm.

We want to thank our judge, Dorothea Fitzsimmons grew up on Ayrshire Farm in Cortland, NY. She was active in 4-H participating in dairy judging showing and several homemaking projects. She attended Cornell Vet School and practiced in Northern/Central NY for 20 years before becoming a professor at Alfred State College teaching dairy management and animal husbandry. While at Alfred she coached the dairy judging teams. She congratulated all the youth on the quality of their animals and a successful showing throughout the day.
Youth shows at the fair are one of many programs offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County (CCE-Allegany).
