On, Tuesday, May 9th at the Allegany County Fair Appreciation Dinner and Award Ceremony, David Jennings Board President, announced that the 2023 Allegany County Fair is dedicated to Gary Harms.  Mr. Harms’s family made a surprise appearance to watch him accept the award and join him for dinner.

Gary has been involved in the fair for over 4 decades, as an exhibitor, assisting other exhibitors, putting on live demonstrations, helping with the demolition derby, parades, livestock areas, antique tractor pulls, building repairs, modifications, improvements, and various competitions for children and adults.

According to Jennings, “Some might say that Gary is a pack rat. Others say that he is resourceful.”  He referred to Gary as an inventor with a vision to see the potential in a rusty old piece of iron.

Joe Sempolinski, Chief of Staff for Assemblyman Joseph Giglio, presented a certificate of recognition to Gary Harms,  Chairman of the Board of Legislators, Brook Harris, addressed the crowd and thanked Gary for his dedication.  He mentioned that the board of legislators holds their June meeting at the Fair Grounds during Fair Week and encouraged people to attend.

The fair takes place July 17th through the 22nd at the Allegany County Fairgrounds in Angelica.  Ticket takers and people to help with parking are needed.  For more information, you can check out their website at www.alleganycountyfair.org.  They also have a Facebook page.  You can reach out during the month of July by calling 585-466-7670.
