The weekend that fishermen are waiting for is just a few weeks away. The community servants, also known as The Wellsville Lions Club have just confirmed that the 33rd annual event in the Genesee River will be held April 22 and 23.
In case you aren’t familiar, this popular event draws hundreds to the banks of the mighty Genesee to fish for trout with a little bounty attached to the dorsal fin. The Lions Club purchases fish from a hatchery that each have a small coded tag which corresponds to a cash prize. Those who are registered for the event typically spend the weekend in Wellsville. The event headquarters is in Island Park and the Lions club spend the weekend serving up hot food and handing out prizes to lucky anglers.
