This week our associate spotlight shines on Melissa Baxter, Occupational Therapist in our rehabilitation services department
From Jones Memorial Hospital,
What is your favorite part of working at Jones Memorial?
Melissa: Having the opportunity to work in a variety of settings (School-Based Occupational Therapy, Acute Care OT, and occasional Outpatient OT). Between September and June, I work off-site for Jones Memorial as a school-based OT, which I love very much.

What’s something about you that not many people know?
Melissa: I worked as a waitress in high school and through my college career at my mom’s small diner, which is where I met my husband. His grandmother was a regular customer and I actually knew her for years before I met my husband.
What’s the last book you read?
Melissa: The In-Between by Hadley Vlahos, RN
What’s your favorite hobby?
Melissa: Horseback Riding – I have three horses at home and enjoy trail riding and barrel racing with my younger sister.
What’s the first concert you ever attended?
Melissa: George Strait in Orlando, FL with my parents and my three sibilings
What’s next on your travel bucket list?
Melissa: In what little traveling I have experienced, I prefer the mountains over the ocean. Although I have not traveled much (I have flown on a plane four times), the furthest I have traveled was to the most northwestern tip of Washington for my best friend’s wedding. I would love to travel more someday with my husband and our boys to experience the Rocky Mountains and revisit the Cascades. In addition to some traveling aspirations, I also hope to slow down and learn/enjoy new hobbies and skills including sewing, canning, baking more homemade foods, etc.
Are you currently binge watching any shows?
Melissa: My husband and I have been watching The Rookie and 911 together. Bluey is also a popular show in our house with our boys!
If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Melissa: My go-to meal when ordering out is Chicken Parm. This girl loves pasta!
What’s one item you can’t imagine living without?
Melissa: A camera. I love capturing photos and memories of the things and of the people that are so important to me. I love looking back at phots and memories I have captured as well as seeing the moments in time others have captured both past and present
