Strong winds and inclement weather toppled a tree onto a house trailer in the Town of Wellsville early Sunday. It happened on Hanchett Road (off Niles Hill Road) in Wellsville.

The initial 911 dispatch indicated that an “elderly” woman was trapped inside the home. Chris Martelle is the Town of Wellsville Emergency Manager. He confirmed that an ‘elder’ resident was inside the home, but wasn’t trapped, but power lines were down. He confirmed “there was significant damage” to the structure.

Wellsville Fire, EMS & Rescue, National Grid, Medical Transport, National Fuel and Town Code Enforcement all responded to the scene. Code Enforcement Officer Rich Wenslow was asked to shut down the home because of the damage. Emergency crews remained at the scene for at least 90 minutes. There were no confirmed injuries.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo reported a maximum confirmed wind gust at the Wellsville Municipal Airport of 54 miles per hour.
