Shake on the Lake performed “MxBeth”

Photos and story by Michael Whitney

Angelica truly is a place where history lives! This Sunday history took us back to 1606 when Shake on the Lake performed their rendition of MxBeth.

Lawn chairs filled the park as folks of all ages enjoyed this stellar performance of William Shakespeare’s tragic Scottish Play. There was blood, murder, witches’, kings, and noblemen and fun for all ages, all brought together in a rather lighthearted production which included much interacting with the local folks who happened to be fortunate (Unfortunate) enough to be in the front rows… Shake on the Lake specializes in serving rural communities and underserved populations in the Silver Lake, NY region, by bringing high-quality professional theatre productions and innovative arts education programming to the community.

This project was made possible with the combined resources of WRAQ FM92.7, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Allegany County Area Foundation. WRAQ is managed entirely by volunteers, and is supported by members, donors, and underwriters.

In February 2014, the FCC granted a license to broadcast at 92.7 FM with the call letters WRAQ-LP. WRAQ broadcasts original and acquired content from its studio at 19 W. Main St., Angelica.
