A good samaritan and a New York State Police trooper went above and beyond in an attempt to save a bald eagle today.
A person driving a car in the town of Candor struck the bald eagle and pulled over, calling the state police for assistance.
Trooper Christian Fulkerson arrived at the scene and the eagle was alive. Trooper Fulkerson then transported the eagle to the Cornell University Hospital for Animals.
Troopers said the eagle was too badly injured and had to be euthanized.
State Police officials said while this story does not have a happy ending, they wanted to recognize Trooper Fulkerson for his efforts as he did everything he could to save the eagle.
