The students in the Allegany County Internship Class will be holding a 2.5-mile walk on May 9 at 10 a.m. at the Allegany County Courthouse in Belmont to benefit the Hart Comfort House of Allegany County.
The walk will end in the Belmont Park Circle.
The “Hart House” offers free comfort care for those in their last three months of a terminal illness and honors the well-being of every person and respects the dignity of human life. The house, which is open 24 hours a day, is designed to be a welcoming and comforting place and is an alternative to the hospital or a nursing home when a person can no longer be looked after in his or her own home.
Students will be raising money through sponsorships and at the event, there will be a 50/50 raffle, t-shirts for sale, drinks, water and music in the park at the finish line.
If you would like to donate to this cause, please contact advisor John Butler at john_butler@caboces.org or event chair Brynne Hunt at brynnehunt34@gmail.com.
The government internship class is made up of students from across Allegany County. They meet at the courthouse each Monday.
