This week, two southern Allegany towns will hold public meetings concerning local wind energy laws. The town of Andover will be meeting on Tuesday January 11th at 6pm in the Andover Town Hall. A major part of this meeting will be a public hearing on the proposed local wind energy law. The draft version of that law has been approved by the town and is expected to become law. On Thursday, January 13th, the Town of Independence will meet for a regular monthly meeting, at 6pm. Supervisor Jeri Reichman explained that the meeting is an hour earlier than normal to accommodate a contractor traveling from out of the area. The meeting will also include a visit from the Concerned Citizens of Fulmer Valley Wind Project group to discuss potential amendments to the law that the town passed in late 2021.
