Mt. Morris Police Department make major weapons arrest

Canadian man arrested with nearly sixty weapons

The Mount Morris Police Department reports the arrest of a Canadian man, Badri Ahmed-Mohamed age 36 of Ottawa, Ontario for the illegal possession of 58 pistols.

 On April 3, 2022, Officer Kyle Regal of the Mount Morris Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling East Bound on Chapel Street in the Village of Mount Morris for traffic violations. After a brief roadside interview with the operator, Officer Regal established that there was something suspicious with the operator and suspected illegal activity. Through his roadside investigation Officer Regal located 58 handguns along with multiple high-capacity pistol magazines in a duffle bag in the trunk of the vehicle. It is suspected that the firearms were being trafficked across the country to an undetermined location. 

Ahmed-Mohamed was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the first degree (a class B-Felony) and transported to Livingston County Jail to await C.A.P. arraignment.  Judge Coyne arraigned Ahmed-Mohamed and remanded him to the custody of the Livingston County Sheriff’s held on $100,000 bail $200,000 bond at the recommendation of the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office.

Assisting in the investigation was the FBI Buffalo Field Office and the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.
