Performances maybe live streamed, 7:30 showtime both nights

Do you miss live theatre ? Would you like to support young, aspiring actors in Wellsville ? This weekend is your ticket then, as the Wellsville Secondary School will present two, one act plays both Friday and Saturday. Yes, you read that correctly, each evening will include two different holiday theme plays!!

The first play, written by Yvonne Ahern and Norman Ahern, “The Rented Christmas,”  based on the short story by J.  Lillian Vandervere, is the story of a lonely man who tries to “rent” the holiday and in the process finds the real meaning of Christmas.

“The Gift of Maji,” is the second one-act performance of the evening, Wikipedia gives a preview of this timeless story:

“… a short story by O. Henry first published in 1905. The story tells of a young husband and wife and how they deal with the challenge of buying secret Christmas gifts for each other with very little money. As a sentimental story with a moral lesson about gift-giving, it has been popular for adaptation, especially for presentation at Christmas time. The plot and its twist ending are well-known, and the ending is generally considered an example of comic irony. It was allegedly written at Pete’s Tavern[2] on Irving Place in New York City.”

You can see both plays, either night, this weekend in Wellsville!!
