The New York State Lottery has confirmed to the Wellsville Sun that Deborah Hardwick of Wellsville won and claimed the $10 million dollar prize from the New York Lottery’s $10,000,000 Deluxe scratch-off game.

On Sept. 16, the Wellsville Sun reported the winning scratch-off ticket was purchased at Wellsville Marathon at 215 North Main St. in Wellsville (formerly the Mobil station next to Jones Memorial Hospital).

The state said Hardwick received the  $10 million prize as a single payment totaling $6,510,000 after taxes.

Lottery officials said during 2020 and 2021, Allegany County school districts received $13,168,952 in “Lottery Aid to Education funds.” The state has generated $4.2 billion during that time.

The ticket costs $30 and Hardwick is the only one to claim one of the five top $10 million prizes.

The Wellsville Sun withheld Hardwick’s name until she consented to make her winnings public.

In 2017, Hardwick posted on her Facebook page a meme with falling money. The post read, “Money is coming your way! – Type Amen – Like & Share.” While Hardwick only shared it and didn’t type, “Amen,” the scratch-off karma granted her $10 million.
