Town Hall Listening Sessions Offer Allegany County Older Adults a Chance to Voice Their Opinion on What They Need in Their Communities

Allegany County – As the annual Allegany County Senior Forum and Picnic were put on hold this year due to the continuing safety concerns surrounding the coronavirus, the Allegany County Office for the Aging wanted to ensure that they are still able to gather valuable input from older residents that would typically be collected at those events. As a solution, the Office for the Aging is partnering with Age-Friendly Allegany County to host eleven (11) Town Hall listening sessions throughout the five (5) legislative districts in Allegany County.

Representatives from both organizations will guide an open conversation discussing topics such as accessing information and services, caregiver support, combating social isolation, staying active in your community, healthcare, housing, and more! Attendees will have the opportunity to have their voices heard about any unmet needs they currently experience and those new services or programs which they would like to see developed in their communities. This information will be used by the Office for the Aging in their planning for 2022 as well as to inform the Age-Friendly Allegany County three (3) year action plan for improved livability for residents of all ages and ability levels.

The Town Hall meetings include a lunch provided by the Office for the Aging as well as a chance for all attendees to win a door prize! RSVP is required and can be made to the Office for the Aging at 585-268-9390 or NY Connects at 866-268-9390. Participants must be 60 years of age or older, or a caregiver of someone that is, to attend the meetings.
