The Allegany County Fair in Angelica returns next week. The Fair runs Monday thru Saturday. It kicks off Monday with a truck pull and ends Saturday with the hugely popular Demolition Derby.  For all the details, go to alleganycountyfair.org


The latest COVID report for New York shows mixed results. Close to 1,000 new positive cases were reported in the most recent report…and for the first time in weeks, the positivity rate has grown above 1%, today at 1.17% The good news is, hospital admissions and those admitted to the ICU have declined slightly. WNY cases have been steadily increasing, now at 0.95%. New cases have also been reported in Allegany County.


The Hammondsport Village Police Department and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office “Kayak with the Sergeant and the Sheriff” will be held on Wednesday July 28th, 2021 from 8:00am – 10am.  Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard will be joining Sergeant Jason Dininny at Champlin Beach on Keuka Lake to demonstrate safe kayaking for members of the Hammondsport Summer Recreation Program and for any community members that wish to receive safety information or just interact with your partners in law enforcement on Keuka Lake.  For more information visit www.hammondsport.us, the Village of Hammondsport Police Department or the Steuben County Sheriff’s Facebook pages.


According to preliminary figures just released by the New York State Department of Labor, the number of private sector jobs in New York State increased over the month by 9,800, or 0.1%, to 7.4 million in June. By comparison, the number of private sector jobs in the U.S. increased by 0.5%. New York State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 7.8% to 7.7% last month.
