A Disappointed LaForge Explains Decision To Exit County Election

Share:

Kevin LaForge of Wellsville announced late yesterday that he decided to withdraw his candidacy for District 4 Legislator. His exit leaves four remaining candidates to compete for three open legislator seats representing Wellsville and Andover.

Laforge made the following statement to this site today:

Given the number of people who have reached out to me today, a public comment is in order.  There is no health issue driving my exit from the District 4 legislative race. I appreciate the concern many have expressed.

The past year has been particularly challenging for small business, especially in New York State.  In all fairness to my wife Ginny, my family, and my very dedicated associates and employees, I need to have my focus on my enterprise for the near future. I thank all of you who offered signatures and encouragement for a potential legislative run.

This reminds me of a humorous story from when I won my first election in 2009.  A former legislator ( he shall remain nameless) called me to congratulate me and said, you’re going to have to have surgery now. Surgery! I said, what do you mean? He said every politician needs to have half their brain removed once they’re elected.
Bottom line; I’m running out of halves.
