ALLEGANY, NY — Could we be any more excited about our new manikin names?
HomeCare & Hospice is thrilled to announce the winning names from its recent “Name Our Manikins” community contest: Joey and Chandler — the lovable duo from the iconic TV show Friends! These names will now be proudly assigned to the organization’s two new medical training manikins, used to help care teams practice lifesaving skills and emergency scenarios.
The winning entry was submitted by Erica Dreher of Allegany, who received a $25 Tim Hortons gift card as her prize. When asked what inspired her submission, Erica joked, “They don’t know much about medicine, but they do know about hugs and sarcasm. Honestly, could there be a better training team?”
More than 25 pairs of names were submitted in the creative community contest, with fan-favorite combinations like Ricky & Lucy, Ben & Jerry, Fred & Wilma, and Ricky & Bobby also in the running. Voting took place via the HomeCare & Hospice Facebook page, and Joey and Chandler came out on top — no need for a tiebreaker from CEO Melissa Sullivan, who called the final vote “a moo point… like a cow’s opinion — it doesn’t matter.”
Meme Yanetsko, Director of Advancement added, “We loved seeing the creativity and humor from our community. These manikins may not binge-watch sitcoms, but thanks to this contest, they’ve got names with personality — and that’s no small thing.”
