From the Town Theatre,

The Town Theatre of Short Tract will present the musical Bye Bye Birdie this summer, under the direction of Jenna Heaney, with musical direction by Rebekah Brennan. Performances are scheduled for July 17 and 18 at 7:00 PM, and July 19 at 2:00 PM, at Genesee Valley Central School in Belmont.

Bye Bye Birdie is a classic American musical set in the 1950s, following rock-and-roll star Conrad Birdie as he prepares to leave for military service, and the comedic upheaval that ensues in a small town when a farewell performance and publicity stunt are planned. The musical features memorable songs, lively dance numbers, and humor that continues to resonate with audiences.

The cast of over 30 performers includes individuals from across Allegany County and neighboring areas, including Fillmore, Houghton, Belfast, Wellsville, Friendship, and Bolivar.

This production marks the second time the Town Theatre has staged Bye Bye Birdie since its founding in 1990, the previous production having taken place in 2006. Notably, three cast members from the 2006 production are returning to perform in this year’s show.

Tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased at the door or online at www.towntheatreofshorttract.org.
