A OPINION by Greg McAndrew, Wellsville

In the interest of clarity. I am running for a position on the county Legislature.

I am deeply disturbed with the assessment that was just completed. Presently it is my number one issue.

The silence of our county, town and village elected officials is deafening! I have not heard one of them speak on behalf of the taxpayers and citizens.nnMy opinion is the leaders have failed us.

I have seen the assessments on property triple.  This is way to large an increase in one year.

I suspect it is being driven by out of control budgets and spending.

Make no mistake about it this is a massive tax increase and when the tax rate goes up the negative effect will be even more severe.

I ask myself, what is one thing this area didn’t need more of?

My answer always come up with taxes.

Businesses are fleeing the area, empty buildings every where, very limited industry .

I am positive high taxes play a huge roll.

I see our local politicians say they are proud of the work they performed on economic growth.

I must be blind.

I don’t see growth.

I see a beautiful area with wonderful people struggling to make ends meet.

How will people on fixed income keep their homes and quality of life?

In closing, I throw this out to the people:

I hear you want change, but every election you keep the same people in office and nothing changes. It is high time to shake things up and disrupt the status quo.

I am your guy, support me and I promise you changes.
