Chromatic Canines Art Exhibit Opens January 10 at SPCA Serving Allegany County

Belmont, NY — The SPCA Serving Allegany County is proud to welcome the community to a vibrant and heartfelt new art exhibit, Chromatic Canines, opening January 10, 2026, at the SPCA shelter located at 5440 State Route 19, Belmont.

Created by artist Jessica Borchert, Chromatic Canines is a joyful celebration of dogs—their personalities, emotions, and the profound ways they enrich our lives. Through bold color choices, expressive brushwork, and layered textures, Borchert captures the spirit of dogs not through strict realism, but through feeling and movement. Each piece invites viewers to experience loyalty, curiosity, calm, mischief, and joy through the psychology of color—blues suggesting trust and devotion, yellows radiating warmth and playfulness, and reds bursting with excitement and energy.

“Dogs live fully in the moment,” Borchert explains. “Loose lines and spontaneous textures allow that energy to remain visible, just as dogs themselves bring movement, presence, and connection into our lives.” The exhibit encourages visitors to slow down, notice each dog’s individuality, and reflect on the gratitude we feel for the time shared with our four-legged companions.

Hosted inside the SPCA shelter, Chromatic Canines offers a unique opportunity where art, animals, and community intersect. Visitors of all ages—art lovers, families, dog enthusiasts, students, and supporters of animal welfare—are invited to experience this colorful tribute while learning more about the SPCA’s mission to protect and care for animals across Allegany County.
