WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced $1,749,635 in federal assistance for firefighters through the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, benefiting 20 fire departments. Congressman Langworthy was proud to support funding for this important program and provide application assistance to ensure communities receive the support they deserve.

“Firefighters are heroes, and I am deeply proud to have secured more than $1.7 million in federal funding to invest in the technology and safety equipment that keeps our communities safe,” said Congressman Nick Langworthy. “These funds support critical upgrades such as new radios, turnout gear, air packs, and other lifesaving equipment for our first responders. I have visited fire departments throughout Western New York and the Southern Tier, and I have seen firsthand the meaningful impact these grants have—strengthening public safety while easing the tax burden on our rural communities.”

According to FEMA, the primary goal of these grants is to enhance the safety and effectiveness of first responders while improving their ability to respond to emergencies and disasters. The program addresses evolving needs ranging from advanced equipment acquisition and replacement of aging vehicles to safety improvements and training initiatives.

Congressman Nick Langworthy represents New York’s 23rd Congressional District, which includes Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Tioga, and parts of Erie, Steuben, Schuyler, and Niagara counties. Visit langworthy.house.gov.
