New furniture, summer reading program, and more are now possible!!
From the Bolivar Free Library,
Our first grant was from the Allegany County Area Foundation:
The library received a 1500$ grant to acquire tables, chairs, window blinds, a coffee bar and reading chairs for our new project/community room. This room is such a gift as we are now able to offer more programs for all ages as well as a space for the community to use. We are thankful for the grant that allowed us to furnish the new space. Thank you.
Our second grant was from the Foundation for Southern Tier Libraries:
We received a 1600$ grant for programming of this year’s Summer Reading program, Color Our World. The funds were used to purchase new Wonderbooks (audiobooks) for our younger learners, add to our book series and purchase a new collection, obtain many art supplies to Color Our World, and offer two special presentations. The Freddy Frog’s Foam party was a huge success on a warm and sunny day. Kids and adults danced and played together in the large mountains of foam. Our final presentation was from Tanglewood Nature Center with the four animal ambassadors representing the summer’s theme Color Our World. The Foundation’s continual assistance for libraries allows for many great things to happen for a library and its community. Thank you!
Our third, a historical grant, was from the Manley Grant.
We received 3500$ for the restoration of our circulation desk and table dated 1907. These original pieces needed some tender loving care and will remain a permanent part of this historical Andrew Carnegie Library. The grant funded three framed professional photos showing the library’s original foyer and staircase before the renovation and addition of a lift in the library. These photos add to the documentation of the library’s historical preservation status. Thank you for the continued support!
The most recent grant is from the Pilcrow Foundation. The Foundation supports rural public library communities through the Children’s Book Project. Support from the community, as in our Fall Basket raffle, allows the library to receive $1200.00 hardcover new books for a third of the cost. A fabulous collection of approximately 72 new current and relevant books for the children’s room. A gift from the community and the Pilcrow Foundation. Thank you!
