By Andrew Harris

A ruling by the Allegany County Board of Elections today paved the way for a county-wide Republican party contest for county Treasurer. After a review of the petition signatures, Jenna Kelley and Adam Cyr will appear on the ballot.

In District 3, a five man primary will seek to put three candidates on the general election ballot this November. The only incumbent in that group is Charles Bessette, who was only just appointed to the legislature to fill the seat vacated by former legislator Adam Cyr. Former Allegany County Sheriff Ricky Whitney is pursuing a legislature seat, as well as former District 3 legislator Bill Dibble. Bill Meunier and Ethen T. Marble are also Republicans vying for a legislative seat.

The Towns of Amity, Willing, and Independence will all hold primary elections for town council seats.

A reminder, a primary election is an inter-party elections. These elections are for Republicans, vying to appear on the ballot in the general election on November 4th, 2025. One write in primary for Democrats is also on the ballot for the Town of Cuba.
