Bring the family to the David A. Howe Library for seasonal food and fun

From the David A. How Library,

The library is often bustling with activity but fall is an especially vibrant time at DAHPL. On Saturday, October 5, the David A. Howe Public Library will hold their annual Fall Fest! Festivities will kick off at 11 a.m. and conclude around 1 p.m. This event is free and open to all!

There will be a variety of fun activities for all ages. Local trio, Casual ReMix – Michelle Libertone, John Spicer, and Jessie Thompson – will play live from the front terrace. Wixson Rentals is setting up a bounce house for younger guests to enjoy. Harvest Haven is bringing chickens for the delight of all. The library is grateful to each of these groups for donating their services for this community event.

While teen patrons are taking part in a scavenger hunt around the library, adults and younger kids will have the opportunity to make seasonal crafts. The library staff have raffles planned for each age group, including a chance for adult patrons to win a classic horror novel. There will also be lawn games set up for anyone to play. Free cider and donuts will round out the cozy fall vibes.

As part of the festival, the library is promoting The Great Give Back by collecting shelf stable food items for the Salvation Army food pantry. The Great Give Back is a community service initiative created by the Suffolk County Public Library Directors Association and the Suffolk Cooperative Library System, in conjunction with the Nassau Library System. The mission of The Great Give Back is to provide a day of opportunities for the patrons of the Public Libraries of New York State to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences.

Along with enjoying a fun event, attending Fall Fest is a great way to learn more about what is happening at the library this season, from Halloween parties to art shows, dance performances to film screenings, art classes to a variety of clubs, and so much more. If you cannot attend Fall Fest, following the library on Facebook or signing up for their weekly emails is another way to learn about the plethora of fun, free, and informative events on their schedule.
