In case you haven’t noticed, political season is upon us. Ignoring the national politics, we are focusing on the most local possible: The village of Wellsville Mayor election.

We are presenting readers with a new poll question about this political race: Who will win ?

Voters have two ballot options, Republican incumbent Mayor Randy Shayler, vying for his third term in the Mayor’s seat. Independent challenger Marshall Green is running against Shayler as a reform candidate. Another Wellsville resident, Corey McAbier, is asking voters to write in his name for Mayor.

Read more about Green’s challenge and McAbier’s write-in quest.

Shayler, quite confident in his leadership over the last eight years, is excited to debate Green at the upcoming October 10 event moderated by John Anderson and sponsored by the Wellsville Sun. The debate is limited to candidates who have petitioned to be on the ballot and will start at 7pm, free to the public.

We will reset this poll each Wednesday evening through October 30. Election day is Tuesday November 5.
