Fellow Citizens of Wellsville, As election time gets closer, I wanted to outline some ideas that I have that could make our community and the village of Wellsville more prosperous and function like the founding fathers of this nation had intended. I want to first address the elephant in the room that has been brought up as a concern.

Why am I running as a write in Candidate?

I fully believe in transparency, So my political affiliation on record with the Board of Elections is Republican, But that solely stands on my ability to be able Vote in primary elections. My political stance is quite Libertarian, However the state of New York does not recognize libertarian as a party.

The second reason is it is my personal belief that anyone should have the ability to run for public office without the bindings and red tape associated with a popularity contest. Not to mention it is my firm belief that your monetary value has no determination on whether you are a good candidate for the office you are running for. I don’t have big money nor do I want donations to a campaign. That 3rd reason right there leads to corruption alone. I won’t be bought! Those, are the 3 main reasons I chose to be a write in Candidate.

You will also never hear me mudsling or throw shade at my opposition in any election I may participate in, regardless of which side of the aisle. Staying with Transparency, I have been known as a private citizen to make my beliefs known on social media. However that has no affect on how I will represent this community as Mayor. I firmly believe that mud slinging in any capacity is atrocious, even worse if it’s against your own party. I have nothing negative to say about my current opponents and I believe let the better man/woman win the election.

In my childhood years my Grandfather who was a HUGE influence in my upbringing had always told me that 1 of the biggest problems with US Politics is “there are too many lawyers in our government.” Anyone who’s ever dealt with the Justice system whether it be Civil, Criminal, or in my case Family, I’m sure can relate to the fact that the legal jargon used in modern legislation and court orders sometimes can be incomprehensible unless you went to school for law… Funny thing about The constitution and founding documents… They were authored so a 6th grade education could understand. Citizen’s are the Employers and elected officials are the Employees! We work for YOU! And thats NOT how modern government has been showing its face and a change of direction I’d like to be a part of.

As for my plans as Your Mayor…

1. (Term Limits)- What Every citizen wants from their government but the government doesn’t want for themselves… I intend to work with the Board of Trustees to pass local legislation implementing term limits for ALL elected positions of the village. I believe setting a precedent for Term limits will benefit the residents as it allows for new ideas and growth, and should also help alleviate the notion that a politician can be “bought” over the years.

2. Local PD- I plan to work closely with local PD to ensure the best proper training for professionalism. I envision a model where Wellsville PD are the best of the best. As well as working to help clean up our streets from crime. For anyone who has been paying attention, crime is no stranger to Wellsville as anywhere else in NYS but it’s a job that needs to get done.

3. Chamber of Commerce- I plan to work with the Wellsville Chamber of Commerce to see what we can do to attract more small business and talent to our beautiful village. I believe SMALL business is the cornerstone of every great community.

IS your furnace ready for winter ?

These are just the top 3 things that I intend to do if elected Mayor of Wellsville. And some in those agencies listed above probably have never met me and if they have maybe don’t recognize me. Because I’m NOT a politician, I’m just a regular Joe , I’m not out flaunting in the village “hey vote for me.” Or “Hey vote for me and I’ll give you the world” I would rather wait until I’m inaugurated as your Mayor. I don’t believe in stepping on toes and I’m not going to promise the world if I know I can’t keep it. Remember if you Elect me, YOU are my boss/my employer and I work for YOU!

Any concerns or Ideas YOU may have to help the village of Wellsville please feel free to contact me anytime. My number is listed on this FB page. And if elected, I would love to see as many citizens as possible at Board meetings to voice your concerns. Under my leadership the Trustees and Myself are going to fully transparent with the public.

Sincerely, Corey McAbier For Wellsville Village Mayor

Any questions or concerns I could be contacted at this return email or by phone (845) 798 7206.

*Editors note: Some readers may wonder why Mr. McAbier has not been invited to the October 10 debate between incumbent Mayor Randy Shayler and challenger Marshall Green? The reason is that Mr. McAbier is not on the ballot, he his a write in candidate. Anyone can be a write-in candidate at any point, without having to gather the necessary petitions from fellow residents to appear on the ballot.
