Life on the Wildside in Belmont NY is a licensed NYS Wildlife Rehabilitator

By Andrew Harris

This little group of babies have gotten very lucky and landed in the caring hands of Madison Reed’s wildlife rehabilitation mission. Just a few months ago this second chance may not have possible for a litter of baby squirrels who just lost a mother.

Fortunately this group of orphans have Belmont NY based “Life on the Wildside,” founded by Reed earlier this summer. Madison explains the background of this group of cuties:

Four of the baby squirrels were found after a tree was cut down that contained their nest and reunification was tried but unsuccessful. Gus was found by himself, cold, and had fleas and fly strike all over him. I really can’t believe he lived. He had very bad flea anemia.”

The mission has already had wide reaching impact on the wildlife, and people that Reed and her team serve. Besides saving little lives like Hammy, Sammy, Anna, Elsa and Gus… Life on the Wildside has educated the public and quickly brought awareness to the community about her efforts.

In fact her outreach work has been so successful that new “patients” are almost a daily adventure. From oppossums to woodchucks to squirrels, the public is leaning on this wildlife rehabilitator.

This non-profit operation is hoping you can help with the cost of care, food, and essential tools of the trade like incubators. Currently Life on the Wildside is crowdfunding for new multi-species incubator. If you can help with this effort, just $10 makes a big difference.

How will this additional incubator help?

“We are currently swamped with babies. We have been fortunate enough to be blessed with our followers support in getting an ECO-30 portable model and an TLC-40 model. We almost always have 3 species in need (baby bunnies, baby opossums, and baby squirrels) so 3 incubators would be a huge help. Thank you for your consideration!”
