Trish Haggerty, Dr. James Gilfert, and Jason Mattison will join the board of education tonight after being sworn into office by top district official Emily Peavey. District superintendent David Foster will also be sworn into office and will continue his role until August 26.

Foster resigned last month and will be the next Cattaraugus-Little Valley superintendent of schools. Read Fosters letter to the district and tonights agenda:

To all:

I am writing to explain my decision to leave and take the position at Cattaraugus-Little Valley. My daughter-in-law is expecting our third grandchild in September, as well as our travel nearly every weekend to visit our kids, are primary motivators. After much thought and reflection, we decided this move was best for our family.

The search process for this position was confidential, and the offer and contract negotiations were only finalized yesterday.  The opportunity allows us to remain close to family and may even allow Kelly to reduce some hours and watch some grandkids.

I have spent my career here, raised my children here, and been deeply involved in this community, forming many friendships. This is one of the hardest decisions I have ever made.

Working in education at Wellsville is all I have ever known. Thank you and I will always remember this time.  I wish the best to all of you.

Sincerely,

David Foster
