Allegany County DA: Rushford man sentenced to a decade in state prison

Jones successfully prosecutes burglary, theft in Rushford

From the Allegany County District Attorney,

Defendant’s Name:  Anthony J. Gorse

Address:  Rushford, New York       

Charges:      Burglary 1st degree (B violent felony);
Criminal Contempt 1st degree (E felony);
Grand Larceny 3rd degree (D felony);
Criminal Mischief 2nd degree (D felony)             

Court Appearance Date:  April 8, 2024

Proceedings:  Anthony J. Gorse will spend the next 10 years in state prison for unlawfully entering a home in Rushford on May 12, 2022.  In addition to the 10-year sentence for burglary, Gorse was also sentenced to 1-1/3 to 4 years for violating an order of protection when he entered the victim’s home.  Following his prison sentence, Gorse will have 5 years of post-release supervision.  At sentencing, District Attorney Jones advocated for the 10 years of incarceration, arguing that the defendant has failed to accept accountability for his crimes.
