The new owners of the classic small town country store are happy to announce that they plan to continue to invest in “The Store,” with some substantial projects happening soon.

Co-owners Ankur Purani and Gokul Shah explained that the store will get a full Citgo brand overhaul starting very soon.

“We are going to replace the signs and the gas canopy with all new Citgo branding that will look really sharp. The storefront will be brightened up with new LED lighting.”

The changes that Ankur(like Encore) and Gokul(you can call him G,) have planned are not just for the gas pumps and outdoor signage.

Inside The Store will also see a big change with an expanded inventory in the grocery aisles. Ankur’s family has a network of small-town stores that will allow them to provide more options for Scio shoppers.

“We will be adding a propane fill station in the next 2 weeks. Inside – we plan to install a new countertop and redo the back wall space. Based on the response we get from the community – we also plan to add Diesel and Kerosene in a year or two. Our plan is to add more services to meet the needs of the community.”

Despite the changes, the Store will remain the same friendly neighborhood store that has been thriving since 1868. The butcher shop will continue to provide fresh cuts of meat, the deli will be making the best sandwiches around, and the Saturday morning coffee club is still the place to be.

You might even get to sit down with Ankur and Gokul or Jim and Cindy Potter for a cup if you get there by seven! Read our previous reporting on the Potter’s retirement after 35 years!
