Sarah Germaine wins the $100 Customer Appreciation Drawing

Joe Greenan is eating local after winning Shop Local prize

By Andrew Harris,

If you aren’t stopping into Fassett Lane Lumber on a regular basis then this is your reminder!! The team at Wellsville’s only locally owned lumber and hardware store are giving you two good reasons to stop into the store: $100 in Customer Appreciation loot and a $50 gift certificate to a great local business. This month Sarah Germaine and Joe Greenan were winners of the two random drawings.

Sarah, pictured above, has been in the store lately working on a home improvement project and dropped her name into the “hat.” We asked her why she has chosen Fassett as her go-to local source:

“I shop at Fassett Lane because for my recent bathroom renovation, my contractor, Bill, knew that Fassett Lane would provide me the best customer service and an incredible selection of materials, all at a fair price! I plan to continue to shop at Fassett for my next project!”

February was the kick of to an additional promotional contest at Fassett Lane. As a locally owned small business, owners Butch Calcote and Dan Peters understand the importance of supporting other small businesses in the Wellsville area. So they came up with a great idea of rewarding their loyal customers with credit at other local small businesses.

Co-owner Butch Calcote awarding Shop Local prize

Joe Greenan was the first to win this monthly prize and will be eating very well just for shopping Fassett Lane

The first partner for this Shop Local iniative was a relative newcomer to the local economy, the Wellsville General Store, located on the Andover Road(Rt. 417E.) Owner Brad Gena was raised in Wellsville but spent years in Charleston South Carolina in the restaurant industry. Upon returning home to Allegany County, Gena opened up a hotspot that showcased his experience and knowledge of southern cuisine.

We asked Brad a few questions about this new partnership with Fassett and what is new at the Wellsville General Store:

How about this new deal with Fassett Lane ? Do you like the concept of cross-promotion ?

Gena: I think it’s a great idea. I love working with other local businesses. I’m currently working with Giant Food Mart also. If we can’t support each other, we shouldn’t be in business.

What does 2024 look like at the store ?

Gena: We’re hoping for a great year, hosting Cruise nights and live music.

The menu at the Wellsville General Store offers a menu unlike any other in the area, what foods are flying out the door lately ?

Gena: Our Philly cheesesteak and southern seafood, including our fish fries are extremely popular. We’ve also just started doing several Paninis for those who like something on the healthy side we’re serving Hershey’s ice cream year around.”
