Drop off donated toys at multiple locations by December 20

From Allegany County Sheriff Scott Cicirello, pictured is Kevin “Santa” Shay,

In the spirit of Christmas and the days of “Shop with a Cop”, the ACSO, along with the Allegany County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, will be conducting a toy drive at various locations starting on November 30, 2023.

In years past, Police Officers, Troopers, Deputies and Corrections Officers would all convene at the Wellsville K-Mart for the annual “Shop with a Cop” program. Each officer would escort a child throughout the store and assist them with purchasing gifts. This program was a way for law enforcement to have a positive impact on children in our communities. When K-Mart closed, the focus shifted to other worthwhile ways of donating to our local youth.

This year, in memory of retired Corrections Officer Kevin Shay, we will be collecting gifts from drop boxes located at the Allegany County Jail, the Department of Social Services, the County Offices/Courthouse and Eastwind Landscape Nursery. The donated toys should be new in the box and between $10-$20 in value. On December 20, 2023, all of the toys will be collected, wrapped by Sheriff’s Office employees and handed out by Santa Claus to deserving children at the Allegany County Jail at a date to be determined.

Please consider donating a toy to this worthy cause. The donation box locations will be:

Department of Social Services, 7 Court St., Belmont, NY (box located near the entrance of the security checkpoint)

County Offices/Courthouse, 7 Court St., Belmont, NY (box located near the entrance of the security checkpoint)

Allegany County Jail, 4884 State Route 19, Belmont, NY (box located inside the front entrance in foyer)

East Wind Landscape Nursery, 5614 State Route 19, Belmont, NY (located inside the entrance)
