New destination coming to downtown Geneseo NY mixes sushi with live music

By Andrew Harris

The restaurant and entertainment business has been through many changes and challenges in the wake of Covid-19. Many industry experts predict that a new wave of food-service and hospitality businesses will change the way we “go out.”

Hybrid operations; a blend of retail, entertainment, food, beverage, and concept are that ‘new wave.’ In Wellsville NY, entreprenuers have found success by both diversifying and differentiating their business model. The Shop at Main is super popular for trendy fashion, gifts, and the in-store cafe serving smoothies, coffee drinks, and fresh baked goods. Across the street, the Book Cellars is a new bookstore that specialize in selling wine, and now a full menu of food. Both new hybrid style businesses have been well-received and are leading a Main Street revival.

Geneseo is all a buzz about the news that a totally novel idea is set to open the former Statesmen on Court Street: Drumroll Stage and Sushi Pub ! The longstanding public house has been totally renovated and revamped by the local craftsmen at Szczesniak Remodeling. Below is a picture of the Statesmen in 1934 and a conceptual drawing on the new Drumroll.

This new idea is best explained by the folks behind all the buzz:

“At Drumroll Stage and Sushi Pub, our mission will be to cultivate a dynamic space that nourishes the Geneseo community both day and night. By night, we transform into a stage for diverse live performances, uniting all members of the community.

We are committed to supporting the local industry by featuring products from nearby restaurants, breweries, distilleries, and wineries. This not only enriches our menu but also bolsters the local economy. In our quest to elevate Geneseo’s arts scene, we provide a platform for local talent to shine, showcasing their talents to a broader audience. Additionally, we bring in outside acts to create a vibrant, cultural space for our community to relish.

At Drumroll, we are more than a dining and entertainment establishment; we are a catalyst for connections, a supporter of local enterprise, and a cornerstone for the arts. Together, we create a thriving community hub that transcends the boundaries of Geneseo. 🤘
