When the Kusmierski family purchased the Giant Food Mart stores in Wellsville and Cuba, they also bought into Allegany County. They want to be involved and give back to the communities they serve.

That motto has benefited multiple local organizations but none more than the SPCA Serving Allegany County. Nick Kusmierski met with SPCA Executive Director Lynda Pruski and President Larry Clark(El Presidente,) this week to hand over a total of $3807 from the August “round up” campaign.

“I can’t believe how much these stores have donated to our shelter since just last year!! Including today’s donation, they have given us well over $11,000 since last spring!” exclaimed Pruski

“Muy bien, mucho gusto Giant Food Mart,” chimed in El Presidente Clark.

Nick Kusmierski is clearly proud of the impact they have been able to make and thanked the loyal customers for making it happen.

“We’ve really been made to feel at home in Allegany County and our customers deserve the credit for making this donation possible. It is great to know this money is going to an organization that does such great work.”

Where does this money go ?

We asked the SPCA Executive Director that questions and Pruski’s answer was simple: Direct care.

“Because of a rapid increase in surrenders, untimely deaths, and a general slowdown in adoption rates since the pandemic, our shelter is full. Every penny of this goes toward caring for our dogs, cats, and even potbelly pigs!”

Giant Food Mart is currently raising money at the register for the Alzheimer Association for the month of September.
