The “trendy” discount chain Five Below is coming to the Hornell Shopping Plaza as construction work is taking place to get the store ready for product.
Bids were approved for the $375,000 construction project which was listed on June 21. The Five Below will be in the space Olympia Sports once vacated.
Five Below, which has stores in Geneseo, Victor, Henrietta, Batavia and Canandaigua, is popular for electronics, books, clothes, makeup, jewelry, candy, toys and sports products with a price of under $5. In recent years, products have been listed at $5.99.
On Wednesday, workers were doing concrete reinforcing, structural metal framing, and working on the ceiling for the entrance. They confirmed to the Sun a Five Below was coming in the location.
The store also has an ad for a store manager for Hornell and the listing says, “Do you want to work for the coolest brand on the planet? Five Below is where you go to kick start your career into full gear.”
Five Below was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Philadelphia.
The employment listing says, “Five Below is the fastest growing value retailer in the nation with 1,200 stores in 40 states. We only sell the coolest, trendiest, high-quality products pre-teens and teens really want, all at $5 and below. And what about our work culture? It’s one of the best around filled with high-energy, positivity, and motivation. Five Below is like no other brand out there.”
The ad listing says the store is looking for someone with a minimum of three years of management experience.
