The practice that law enforcement in NYS have been forced to endure is often referred to as, “catch and release.” Taz Cain, who currently resides in Andover NY, created a real outcry after he was accused of providing deadly narcotics, resulting in an overdose death in late 2022. He was arrested March 25 , charged with criminally negligent involuntary manslaughter, and released with a future court date.

Five days later he was arrested again drug charges and remanded to the county jail.

Since then, Cain has been released and placed on probation.

Today Allegany County Undersheriff Walter Mackney announced that Cain was arrested for violating the terms of that probation and again remanded to the Allegany County Jail:

“The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, September 15, 2023, TAZ CAIN, age 29 of County Road 12, Andover, NY was arrested by Sheriff’s Deputies on a Violation of Probation warrant. CAIN was processed and held at the Allegany County Jail to await further court action.”
