Disability Pride 5k (and 1 Mile) Color Run/Walk Set for June 24th

WELLSVILLE, NY: The Arc Allegany-Steuben is holding a Disability Pride 5K (and 1 mile) Color Run/Walk on Saturday, June 24, 2023. The race begins at 9:30am with a starting point at The Arc’s Shine Facility (240 O’Connor Street, Wellsville, NY). The 3.1 mile course and 1 mile course begins at the Arc Allegany-Steuben and winds through the streets of Wellsville, ending back at The Arc.

Myriah Perry, Event Chairperson, said “This year’s event is going to be a color run to spread awareness of disabilities and celebrate Disability Pride; honoring the diversity within the disability community, reflecting on issues that people with disabilities are facing, and inspiring action to make the world more inclusive and accessible. We also added a 1 Mile Fun Run to the course for 2023.”

The event is open to all ages and abilities. Prizes will be awarded for top 3 overall male and female winners, and overall, one-mile Fun Run winner. The registration fee is $25 per person for the 5K and $10 per person for the 1 Mile Fun Run. Register by Monday, June 5, 2023, to receive a free t-shirt. Event proceeds benefit the Green Machine athletic teams and the Friends of Allegany Arc Foundation; supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Allegany County served by The Arc Allegany-Steuben.
